learn piano worship music
Specialization in Music W / little experience itself? – @ A community college?

I want to learn music and I want to go college. I started a little late @ age 25. How do you choose the music that my grandparents (one year at Community College 2)? My goals: reach an intermediate level on the theory of music for piano Understand Able to write my own worship songs to play the keyboard in the church worship group my. I'm not going to college to prepare for a career. I already have a thriving business that runs itself. My goal with the College is to learn and acquire skills and knowledge. If I did not learn music and get to the point where I can play or write my own songs … I know it will be something I'll always regret. So it is a long dream of a lifetime for me:) Right now I'm going through Alfreds All One course in piano. Can I get some ideas / opinions of some of you experienced musicians? Thank you!

Hello. Consider yourself pursue graduate studies? IE you intend to pursue your masters and / or a PhD? If not, do you really need to go to a community college and major in music. You would need to take a lot of general obligation courses to graduate with your AA (such as mathematics, science, speech, English, etc.) Looking at your goals, I can tell you do not need college, except for the part of music theory (Which is of course only 1 or 2 in a community college). To play the piano intermediaries, write songs, worship, and play the keyboard of your church, does not require a major in music, a few private lessons in piano (which you already do). If this is not a career you are looking for you will be much wasting your time and resources. If your dream is to specialize in music and go to college for music, it would be for you can become a conductor, to teach music at school or playing in an orchestra. You must choose a primary instrument (usually piano) and a secondary instrument (whichever you choose). But since you have little experience, you have to take courses in other instruments. Colleges Community do not provide a learning tool. Students who go to the music have been playing music in a group or an orchestra throughout middle school and high school. They pay for a tutor to give them more advanced training in their instruments. So, yes, you just made your work cut out for you. But as I said, if you're dream is to teach music at school or writing, driving, or the orchestra play, then go ahead. If you just want to learn to play piano at church, you will have lost lot of money and time. My advice is to just get private lessons and writing music comes from the heart. You can not teach that any where. You can simply take a course in music theory, but that really help a lot habit. Whatever your choice, I wish you the best opportunities. Follow your dreams.
