The purchase of a MIDI controller?
I really want to learn piano, I played when I was little, but I lost interest. I have since learned to play guitar fairly well, but I feel I need some kind of change. Anyway Regardless, my question. I want to buy a keyboard, but I am limited on space. My desk in my dorm is about 45 inches long, and I'm looking MIDI controllers. As far as I understand, I need to connect my computer (I run Windows XP) via USB so it can play sound. Is it too complicated to learn about a type of MIDI controller keyboard? I'm looking at this one atm. It http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MAudio-Keystation-61es-USB-MIDI-Controller?sku=709204 seems a reasonable price, and it goes up on my desk. But my main concern is whether the MIDI controllers are a joke too unless I registration. Thank you in advance! =)
With 45 inches available you can not get a good 7 octave keyboard, but you can have one of these 5-octave to start learning. Note that the tactile response is different from that of a piano (which is harder), as the transition from a guitar an electric acoustics. I suggest you create Xboard-61 is the same price, but it comes with fantastic music software (sequencers Proteus software and synthesizers) then you can start playing from the start.
