If you know where "C East" is, then place your right thumb on the Middle-C. Think of your thumb as Finger # 1, then the pointer finger like # 2, etc. Then play Fingers 1, 3, and 5 together. It is your agreement C. Now, try placing your thumb on an F, then a G, with the same 3 fingers. Good way to start. And the best way to play it by ear: if it sounds wrong, try different notes until it sounds correct.
